No EU funds for human rights violations
In recent years, the EU has provided over 400 million euros to Tunisia, Mauritania and Morocco for "migration management". Reports show that these funds are being used for practices that violate human rights. Migrants are forcibly deported to remote areas and left there in inhumane conditions. These practices are unacceptable.
We demand the immediate cessation of all EU funding that leads to human rights violations. The EU Commission must recognize its responsibility and ensure that human rights are respected.

A new investigation by the Lighthouse Report reveals: EU funds finance human rights violations. Migrants and migrant workers were picked up on their way to the EU because of their skin color and deported to the desert.
These people were subjected to extreme conditions without aid, water and food, leading to kidnapping, extortion, torture, sexual violence and even death. Some were taken to border areas, imprisoned or sold to human traffickers. Images and location data substantiate these reports.
The aim of these operations is to prevent them from entering the EU, according to Lighthouse Reports. Moreover, these are not isolated cases, but a systematic, recurring procedure.
These systematic human rights violations are known in the EU and are supported by EU funds. Vehicles and equipment used in these operations have been provided by European countries. In Tunisia, for example, the vehicles used were the same as those donated by Germany and Italy. The EU has also funded Moroccan paramilitary auxiliaries involved in these brutal operations.
The EU is ignoring these crimes, making itself partly responsible. Despite internal discussions about the abuses since at least 2019, the EU has taken no effective action and denies that its funds are being used for these practices. It is imperative that the EU stops its funding of such projects and ensures that its funds do not contribute to human rights violations.
It is time for the EU to take its values seriously and act. Human rights are indivisible and universal. Our voice must be heard to end these cruel practices. Let's stand up together for human rights and call on the EU to live up to its responsibilities.
